How Can the Education and Construction Sectors Benefit Each Other?

The benefits of modular education facilities are frequently utilised by nurseries, schools and higher education institutions across the UK. However, the recent government announcement that from next year all international university graduates could qualify for a two-year period to work in the UK, could have a fantastic impact on the construction industry.

How Can the Education Sector Benefit the Modular Construction Sector?

By overturning a decision made in 2012 by then-Home Secretary Theresa May, a new proposal has now allowed international university students a two-year work visa after graduating from a British university. This is beneficial to the modular construction industry as a skills boost can be given to our sector.

The current ruling is that international university students that have graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree can seek work for four months after their graduation. By changing the four-month period to a two-year period, graduate chances at finding long-term employment are increased after completing their studies. Hundreds of thousands of bright international students graduating from a variety of professions with accredited qualifications and diverse, innovative ideas ultimately enhances the skill set available to UK construction firms looking to recruit engineers, architects and many more capable individuals.

How Does Modular Construction Benefit the Education Sector?

Whether the individual being educated is at nursery, primary, secondary or higher education level, the learning space should be created case-by-case to suit the educational needs. This may be through specific fittings, safety features or aesthetics. These requirements and many more can be created in a more environmentally friendly, cost-effective and timely way than a traditional build can. Each of our buildings can be specified and fitted out as assembly halls, IT suites, laboratories, canteens and many more options.

Education authorities are seeking modular construction solutions for many reasons. Constructed off-site in our ISO-approved production facility, portable educational facilities have some distinct advantages:

  • Fast turnaround times
  • Lower costs
  • Less disruption
  • Better energy efficiency

Additionally, at Springfield we offer both bespoke hiring and buying solutions for all of the educational facilities we work with. This means that modules can be used as a temporary or permanent measure. Providing options for a fully functional school building to be removed and reused if required is great for your carbon footprint!
