Springfield Sponsors Newham College Students for Photographic Portfolio

When Springfield Mobile completed its largest ever order worth over £750 000 to design, build and install modular classrooms at Newham 6th Form College (NewVIc) in London it decided to invest in the college’s students to provide a photographic portfolio of the project.

The photography project was completed in just over a week and raised over £200 for the students involved with most of the money being donated to the Raleigh International volunteering charity.

Lyndsey Duggan, managing director of Springfield said, ”This was a really prestigious contract for us and we thought there could be no better way to illustrate it than to ask the students who benefit most from the building.”

Bhavin Bhadresa, photography teacher at NewVIc added, “We think it’s so important for our students to get involved with commercial projects and get the right experience for their portfolio which is why we jumped at the opportunity, photographing the space was challenging as we had to get the right light but we’re pleased with the final images. Some of the money that we’ve earned will go to the Raleigh International volunteering charity that we’re hoping to work with next year.”

The students Lidia Silva Dos Santos, Lucian Mihai Koncz and Iqra Malik were chosen on the strength of their coursework and were given an open brief to photograph the twelve classrooms and washroom facilities Springfield installed as a two storey block for the college to cater for increasing numbers of students in the area which had created considerable pressure on the available college resources.

David Snazel who oversaw the building project for Newham College said, “Our resources were getting terribly stretched and we needed a solution that was fast and affordable.  We invited a number of suppliers to tender for the contract including the likes of Portakabin and were really surprised by how much Springfield differentiated itself from the competition in terms of quality and value. That differentiation was reflected in the finished product being delivered on time and within budget.”
