PROJECT: 8.0M x 3.9M - Double Storey Stacked Jack-leg units to provide welfare accommodation, a drying facility, changing areas and a disabled toilet on the ground floor, along with an office and female toilet on the first floor. Additionally, a stand-alone 3.6M x 2.4M Gate House Unit was installed.
CLIENT DETAILS:
Lymm Truck Wash is the largest and oldest truck wash in Europe, having been operational since 1967.
The business was started by John & Anne Cardwell and is now owned and proudly operated by daughter, Laura.
Laura has recently moved the 53-year old business to a purpose-built new site with state of the art Washtec washing equipment, a bespoke pressure washer and ANPR payment system.
The new site is just 100 metres from the original site and retains the unique accessibility to the motorway system that has proven so popular with truck drivers throughout the UK & Europe over the years.
The Company enjoys a loyal and dedicated, long-serving workforce who together posess a wealth of knowledge of the industry. This contributes to the excellent service Lymm Truck Wash delivers for its clients and attracts drivers as they are keen to ensure an accessible, convenient service offering the very best in quality and value for money.
OVERVIEW:
Laura was determined that the accommodation needed on the new site matched the new high-spec washing equipment to ensure the whole site delivered a professional visual experience. A Google search quickly identified Springfield were not only “on their doorstep” but offered the massive flexibility they required in both design options and internal & external finishes.
Following several visits to Springfield and meetings with the design team the perfect units were visualised, approved and manufactured by our time-served craftsmen in our St Helens factory and delivered to site for positioning. The units were required to provide welfare facilities for customers and staff along with office space and toilet facilities of a standard to satisfy DDA (Disabled Discrimination Act) regulations.
Separate space was required to manage the flow of trucks onto the site and a traditional gatehouse unit was built fit for this purpose.
KEY ISSUES FACED BY CLIENT:
Laura and her management team had a clear vision of how the accommodation should look inside & out and which facilities were needed in the buildings, however space was very restricted. But, the flexibility and bespoke approach Springfield take when creating buildings enabled Laura to meet all her objectives, unrestricted by the normal industry practice of trying to alter stock units and make them fit. The ability to stack the units was particularly useful given the shortage of space for the accommodation required. Stacking the two units delivered more space than originally anticipated.
WHAT SPRINGFIELD DID:
Springfield approached this project with our usual flexibility and blank canvas outlook, listened carefully to client needs and together with Laura’s input drew up the plans and provided 3 separate units that, following several changes and alterations, altogether delivered exactly what was required as well as optimising the space available.
The units were all built in our workshop and held until required by Lymm Truck Wash at which point delivery was co-ordinated to arrive on site exactly when required to enable the Springfield installation team to complete the project on time and on budget.
SUMMARY & KEY BENEFITS:
The all new Lymm Truck Wash site is now fully open with a purpose-built site, offering the very best of washing facilities along with custom designed client welfare units and office accommodation to ensure the administration of the new site is well managed and efficiently run.
WHAT DID THE CLENT SAY?
"As we are a family run Company we like to use local family run companies to supply us. Springfield are just this and are a fantastic company to deal with. There has never been a ‘no’ or ‘we can’t do that’. Neil, Simon and their team have gone out of their way to ensure we are happy. The finished kiosk and cabins have exceeded all my expectations and are working really well. The men are very happy too, as they can now dry their work clothes and get nice & warm when on breaks. I would highly recommend Springfield and their team to anyone. Having such an accommodating company to work with in this day and age is such a refreshing change!"
