Springfield Celebrates Five Year Anniversary with Manchester City Council

Springfield Mobile is celebrating five years of hiring portable mobile buildings to Manchester City Council.  The majority of the buildings are for primary schools across Manchester providing extra classroom capacity or short term cover when school buildings need repairs.

In total Springfield has supplied 25 classroom units across over 20 sites worth almost £2 Million. Over the past years, Springfield has become a regular supplier for hiring portable buildings during the competitive tender process.

“Value for money is clearly an important selection criteria for Manchester City Council and time and time again we have delivered against larger suppliers such as Wernick, Elliots and Portakabin, but it is not the only reason behind our success. All the classrooms are spotless and ready to use straight away and we’ve had some really tight deadlines to work with, but perhaps more than anything else it’s our willingness to go the extra mile.” says Lyndsey Duggan Springfield’s managing director.

 “Education is an important market for us and we realise how important it is to get things right first time,” adds Lyndsey. “It’s also important for us in the long term because our hire business has the scope to contribute much more strongly to our bottom line.”     

Since all manufacturing is done at Springfield’s St Helens plant, the key advantage the company offers is that its hire stock can be delivered to customer sites freshly configured and virtually as new every time.

About Springfield Mobile

Springfield Mobile is a privately owned company employing 35 staff from its site in Sutton, St Helens, with over 40 years experience in designing, manufacturing and supplying portable buildings.  It was founded by Ken and Carole Britner whose daughter Lyndsey has overseen the growth of the company by some 140% over the past five years reaching a turnover of £5.8 Million in 2016.  All of its modular portable buildings are manufactured on the company’s 40 000 sq ft premises. Most recently the company won the ‘Best Portable Building Firm - UK’ in the 2016 sustainable building awards from the prestigious Build construction magazine
